Sis.. you don't need another journal you just need a nap! And a strategy!

Let’s be real, sis. How many journals do you currently own? Be honest. Five? Ten? One for goals, one for gratitude, one for that situationship you swore was “a lesson”? Yeah, I see you.

But hear me: you don’t need another journal. You need rest. And a plan that actually makes room for your joy—not just tracks it.

So today, we’re getting into some real-life self-care—not the Instagram version. This is for the Black woman who’s overworked, under-rested, and tired of being told to “just manifest it.” Here’s a funny (but practical) survival guide to protect your peace without losing your mind (or your lip gloss).

1. Self-Care Isn’t Just Bubble Baths. It’s Boundaries.

Look, a eucalyptus-scented bath bomb is lovely. But you know what’s even better? Saying “no” without guilt and turning off your phone without a press release. Protect your energy like it’s your last wig during Florida humidity. Boundaries aren’t mean—they’re sacred.

2. Rest is Revolutionary… and Necessary.

Stop glamorizing “grind culture.” You are not a machine, and nobody’s giving out trophies for running on fumes. God rested. Beyoncé rests. You can too. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is nap with your bonnet on and your phone on “Do Not Disturb.”

3. Meal Prep is Ghetto… But Being Hangry is Worse.

I get it. Cooking every Sunday feels like community service. But let’s not act like protein bars and iced coffee are a meal. Keep it simple: grilled chicken, a veggie, and a prayer. And always keep a snack in your purse so you don’t go off on Cheryl from Accounting. (She be tryin’ it.)

4. You Don’t Need to Be a Whole New Woman by Monday.

Stop promising yourself, “Monday I’m starting over.” Sis, who made Monday the spiritual reset button? You’re already dope—you don’t need a whole makeover. You need a tweak, a reset playlist, and a little grace. Progress over perfection. Always.

5. Laugh More. Loudly. Often.

Some days the wig won't sit right, the lashes won’t lash, and somebody’s child will test your patience. In those moments, find joy. Watch a funny TikTok, call your funniest friend, or scroll through your old tweets. Laughter is therapy (and free).

Final Word:You don’t need to become a different woman. You just need to give the current you a little more rest, hydration, boundaries, and joy. And maybe… just maybe… resist buying that 12th journal. For now.

If this blessed you, made you laugh, or dragged you just a little—share it with your tribe. Let’s stop surviving and start thriving… with naps and petty boundaries.
