Sis, September Is Here: Let’s Welcome the New Season Together

Whew, can you believe it’s already September? One minute we were outside in sundresses and sandals, sweating out our edges, and now suddenly the air got a little disrespectful in the morning. You need a hoodie when you drop the kids off, but by noon you’re back in shorts. That’s Florida weather for you or honestly, anywhere right now. But beyond the flip-flop forecast, September brings us more than just pumpkin spice everything. It’s a season of shift.

Just like we change our wardrobe when the weather changes, we’ve also got to learn how to change our mindset, our habits, and sometimes even our circle. Because truth be told, you can’t carry summer baggage into fall and expect to feel light.

So, let’s talk about how to leave one season and welcome the next both emotionally and spiritually; with a little bit of humor so we don’t cry in the process.

1. Do a “Seasonal Clean-Out” (of your spirit, not just your closet)

Listen, sis, I know you’re ready to switch out those sundresses for cozy sweaters. But let’s also swap out some old mindsets. That “I’ll get to it later” energy? Pack it up with your flip-flops. That situationship you know isn’t going anywhere? Box it up and leave it on the curb. Fall is all about clearing space—physically, mentally, and emotionally—so the new can have room to grow.

2. Set New Rhythms Instead of Resolutions

We’re not waiting until January to get our life together. September is a perfect reset button. Start small: wake up 15 minutes earlier, drink some water before you dive into coffee, or commit to walking outside to breathe in that crisp(ish) air. Don’t overwhelm yourself with 15 new goals. Just find your rhythm and flow into it like you do when your song comes on in the grocery store.

3. Embrace the “Uncomfortable Cute” Stage

Just like when it’s too hot for boots but too cold for sandals, transitions can feel awkward. But that’s okay; growth is uncomfortable. You might feel out of place, uncertain, or even stretched. But remember: the leaves don’t apologize when they change colors, they just do it. Be like the leaves, sis. Shift boldly and beautifully.

4. Add Some Joy to Your Routine

Don’t let this season just be about grind and change. Add a little joy in the mix! Light that candle, buy the cozy blanket, take yourself on a fall date to a coffee shop. New seasons should come with new joys.

5. Talk to God About the Transition

Sometimes we forget that he is the Master of seasons. The same way He turns summer into fall, He can turn your situation into something new. Pray about what you need to let go of, and ask Him what He wants you to step into.

Final Thought: September is here, and she came with her hands on her hips like, “Alright sis, what we doing?” Don’t be afraid to say goodbye to the old and step into the new. You deserve to walk into this season lighter, brighter, and ready for whatever God has for you.

So grab your pumpkin spice or your sweet tea if you’re not ready yet lol and let’s welcome the new season with open arms. 🍂✨
