Let’s Talk About Your Mouth, Sis

Good morning, beautiful! It’s another Saturday, another blog post, and yes — another divine opportunity to check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. Get that coffee (or tea if you fancy), wrap that bonnet tight (or loose, no judgment), and let's get into it.

Today, I wanna talk about something you carry with you 24/7, that can build or break, heal or hurt, speak life or spread shade. No, not your handbag, boo —I’m talking about your words.

Girl, let me say this plain: Your mouth has power. Not just “I-can-snag-a-man” power. I’m talking about “shift-the-atmosphere,” “raise-these-kids,” “pray-myself-through-this-mess” kinda power.

Let Me Paint the Picture:

You ever been around somebody who always got something negative to say? Like everything is the end of the world?

Them: "I can't ever get ahead."Also them: "Ain’t nothing ever work out for me."Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi works, the car still runs, and God’s been good — but they can't see it ‘cause their words block the blessings.

Now flip it.

You ever speak life over your situation, even when it looked like a hot mess express? You ever said, "This ain’t the end of me. I’m built for this. God got me."And then boom — peace shows up. Favor walks in. Doors open. You’re not lucky, sis. You’re intentional.

The Power of Your Words — Real Talk:

Your words don’t just float in the air like air freshener. Nope. They land. They plant. They grow.

Here’s what I want you to remember:

  • Words are seeds. What you say, you grow. Speak fear, you grow anxiety. Speak faith, you grow strength.

  • Your kids are listening. Whew. That part. Be careful not to pass down insecurity, bitterness, or self-doubt through careless talk.

  • You set the tone. Your words set the thermostat in your home, your relationships, even your mirror moments.

  • Life and death are in the tongue — for real. That’s not just scripture, that’s strategy. Speak life on purpose.

Sis, Here’s Your Challenge This Week:

  • Watch your mouth — like it’s got stock in your future.

  • Replace “I can’t” with “I’m learning to.”

  • Don’t call yourself ugly, tired, broke, or crazy — not even as a joke. You are none of those things.

  • Speak something sweet to yourself out loud every day. Look silly. Be loud. Do it anyway.

Because the truth is:We got enough working against us as Black women — don’t let your own words be on the list.

So, talk to yourself like somebody who’s about to win. Talk to your children like royalty. Talk to your future like it already belongs to you.

Because it does. And your mouth can walk you right into it — or talk you right out of it.

I love you, sis. Go speak life today.
